John le Carré Lets Us In On the Dark Secrets of American Success - Also How Morgan Stanley Uses Food Stamp Profits to Engineer Poverty

Don't miss the well-regarded novelist John le Carré (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy; The Russia House; The Perfect Spy; The Night Manager; The Constant Gardener) expounding (Part 2 which gives the real background of Iran's takeover is introduced in Russian but Le Carré speaks in English) on the "dignification of greed" that abounded from the "Reagan-Thatcher love affair," culminating in our current (final) devastation and how small the "NeoConservatism" movement always was, and what they knew about the use of fear to achieve their geopolitical fantasies.

I remember thinking upon occasion how could such a small group of assholes (actually as Le Carré says "a plundering movement") rule so absolutely? Having a suborned media ("embedded journalists" leading to "lies that they helped to publicize and justify") that continued to prate that "American had a divine mission . . . a God-given mission . . . and had a right to the world's resources" was key. It still is.

There's also a bit on how the CIA (remember George Bush I's history?) deposed the elected government of Iran and imposed the Shah. Oh yes, did you know that "Morgan Stanley makes its percentage off of food stamps (that it administers), so it wants you to be poor and in debt?" Does this make you feel more or less middle class? Neoconservative?

What's really depressing is that my (supposed) share of the national debt is over $180,000, but all I have to show for it is a rented apartment and possessions worth a fraction of that. However, the Engineering Poverty video strengthens my resolve to not cave to the temptation to accept food stamps. Sometimes, life's a bitch--but it's still better than the alternative.
